Dates are swirling. June 13. Maybe July 3. Nobody really knows yet, and honestly, the specific calendar day matters less than the drama already bubbling under the surface of the guest list.
The issue? The plus-one policy.
Some people got a golden ticket for a companion. Others? Solo tickets. And the single women invited are not loving the vibe. One source spilled to the Daily Mail about the sheer awkwardness of showing up alone at a megawedding.
“My invite did not let me bring a-plus-one,” she said. “Go alone? That is so awkward.”
She plans to skip it entirely. Not because she’s mad, but because she’s shy. And frankly, she’s not sure she knows enough people to carry her through a weekend filled with celebrities she barely interacts with. She isn’t exactly best friends with Gigi Hadid. The math doesn’t work out in her head.
Capacity constraints exist. We know this. But does that make the sting go away? Hardly.
Elaine Swan, a wedding expert, pushed back against this loneliness narrative. She told Essence that weddings are actually prime hunting grounds for romance, if you view them correctly.
“People invited to weddings hold a special place… They’re going to bring the cream of why people they like.”
She’s right. The room will be full of interesting, vetted people. Who sits next to whom is never a guarantee, but think about the guest list for a second. Maybe she ends up next to a single NFL roster player. Maybe a musician. Maybe someone with a better story to tell than any plus-one could offer.
Is it really worth missing the most talked-about event of the year over a potential seating arrangement?
Probably not. But she’s worried she’ll have nothing to do. Or nobody to talk to. That’s the fear.
Swan reminds us it is a big day for the couple. Their day. The rule hurts the feelings of at least one guest, sure. But getting invited to Taylor and Travis’s party at all is still the win. Most of us wouldn’t even make the B-list.
So she’ll sit this one out? We’ll see. The invitation is in her hand, and the FOMO is likely creeping in fast.
